The Port of Pollensa has two functions: it is a port and a tourist center. It is especially visited by the English. Surrounded by fine sandy beaches it is a perfect place for a family vacation.
The beaches that border the Port of Pollensa are: Playa d’Albercuix, Puerto de Pollensa Beach and Llenaire Beach. The great touristic atmosphere is concentrated mainly in the summer months, but also exists in the winter as well.
A trip to Mallorca is incomplete if you do not reach the north end of the island. Here is the Cape Formentor, where the Sierra de Tramuntana meets the Mediterranean. This completes a 20-kilometer-long peninsula.
The landscape is spectacular and can be enjoyed from the Mira de Mal Pas and the Talaia d’Albercutx defense tower. It is true that the lighthouse is not open to tourists but the views in its surroundings are marvellous.
Formentor is one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Mallorca. It is full of pine trees in a spectacular cove with mountain views. A little further away from here you can find the small coves of Cala en Feliu, Cala Murta and Cala en Gossalba, which are difficult to access but very quiet.
Formentor was the source of inspiration for several artists. He inspired the famous Mallorcan poet “El Pi de Formentor”, which was written by the priest Miquel Costa i Llobera, whose family had owned the peninsula.
In addition, the Port of Pollensa is the starting point for excursions to different parts of the island. Some indispensable places to visit are the Yannick Foundation and Ben Jacober Sa Bassa Blanca Museum. At the entrance of the Foundation you will find a sculpture park, a rose garden and a gallery of children’s portraits.
From here there are also excursions that leave to the 150-hectares of lakes, reed beds and canals of the Albufera Nature Reserve and the Ornithological Tourism Center of La Gola.
